Black hole spin-statistics

In this talk, I will discuss the following question: of all the microstates of a black hole, how many are bosonic and how many are fermionic? I will first review recent development in the literature on the computation of indices for supersymmetric black holes. Then I will apply the same idea to non-supersymmetric black holes and derive some universal predictions. The calculation features suitably analytically continued Kerr instantons. I will also comment on possible contributions from spin defects and wormholes. This talk will be based on work in progress with Juan Maldacena and Gustavo Turiaci.
