Title: Aspects of the Hartle-Hawking State

Host: Tom Hartman

Abstract: The Hartle-Hawking proposal is an elegant prescription for constructing a state for the entire universe. I will discuss several aspects of this state, including its infrared behavior, normalizability, and the role it plays in defining the entropy of subregions in quantum gravity. Special attention will be paid to the setting of inflationary cosmology.
