ALMOG BEHAR was born in Netanya in 1978. He is a poet, novelist, translator, researcher and scholar. Behar lives in Jerusalem, and teaches in the Department of Literature at Tel-Aviv University about the connections between Hebrew and Arab literatures, the connections between the Jewish Liturgical poetry traditions (Piyyut) and Modern Mizrahi literature, Jewish writing in Judeo-Arabic and literary Arabic, and the way Jewish writers negotiate with Islamic traditions. 

He has published four poetry collections: Kdey She-Hamelach Yitpazer al Ha-Ahava (Rub Salt into Love, 2021), Shirim Le-Asirei Batei-HaSohar (Poems for the Prisoners, 2016), Chut Moshekh Min Ha-Lashon (A Thread Drawing from the Tongue, 2009) and Zim’on Be’erot (Well’s Thirst, 2008). His short stories collection, Ana Min Al-Yahoud (I Am One of the Jews, Arabic title in the original), was published in 2009; his novel Chahla ve-Hezkel (Rachel and Ezekiel, 2010) was translated into Arabic and published in Cairo in 2016.
