LEAD HAZARD CONTROL IN NEW YORK & AT HOME
In 2016, EPA levied fines of over $1 million for violations of the Lead Renovation, Repair & Painting Rule (RRP 2008). This law requires contractors, landlords, handymen, and renovators to attend certification training and use lead safe work practices in pre-1978 housing and child occupied facilities.
Andy McLellan, EPA accredited training director and president of Environmental Education Associates, Inc. will provide a practical overview of the regulation and discuss current RRP implementation and enforcement in New York State. Q & A session included.
Andy McLellan has been active in lead hazard & healthy homes control since 1990. He has assisted in the acquisition of funding and in the organization of infrastructure for hazard control programs throughout the country. As president of Environmental Education Associates of Buffalo, Mr. McLellan directs multiple environmental certification programs in asbestos, lead, mold and hazardous materials. Since 2008, he has served on the NYS Governors Advisory Council on Lead Poisoning Prevention.
