"Lessons of the Left Turn in Latin America: Venezuela and Bolivia," a LASP Public Issues Forum, with David Smilde and Santiago Anria

David Smilde is a Sociologist and the Charles A. and Leo M. Favrot Professor of Human Relation and Senior Associate Fellow at CIPR (Center for Inter-American Policy and Research) at Tulane University. He serves as a Senior Fellow of the Washington Office on Latin America and specializes in religion, politics and protest in Venezuela, as well as qualitative methods.

Santiago Anria teaches comparative and Latin American politics. at Dickinson College in Pennsylvania. His research focuses on social movements, political parties, and democracy. This research has been published in Comparative Politics, Comparative Political Studies, the Journal of Democracy, Studies in Comparative International Development, and Latin American Politics and Society.
