About this Event
Cornell University Mann Library, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY 14853, USA
A new exhibit by Finger Lakes artist June Szabo opens the 2021/2022 public programming year at Mann Library on the Cornell University Ag Quad. “Landscape Sculptures: Conversations with Land and Water” presents carefully gathered views of Finger Lakes landscapes—from the sweeping vistas provided by aerial photography and topographical mapping to the mesmerizing patterns and miniature landscapes we can see among the leaves, lichen, and fungi of our moist forest floors. In sculptures of intricately shaped, multi-hued wood and woven wire, Szabo invites a (re)discovery of our local environment from multiple angles. At once abstract and profoundly grounded, the installation inspires reflection on the natural beauty of our region and the ancient, continuing interconnections that sustain it.
