American Studies Spring 2021 Colloquium
Taking George Benson’s classic song “Give Me The Night” as its soundtrack, “Just Give Me The Night: Queer Nightlife Ecologies” seeks to engage the Cornell community at large in a critical conversation on Nightlife as an alternative temporality focusing on different modes of economic production and the establishing of kinship networks, while subsequently offering up different ways of being in the world that challenge the 9-5 capitalist labor model.
Featured speakers include: Kemi Adeyemi (University of Washington), Kareem Khubchandani (Tufts University), and Ramón Rivera-Servera (Northwestern University).
Moderated by Karen Jaime, Assistant Professor of Latina/o Studies and Performing and Media Arts.
