Evangelical churches constitute the largest and fastest growing ethnic organizations in many immigrant communities today. More than one in five Asian Americans and a similar proportion of Latinos in the US identify as born again Christians. How will this religious transformation in contemporary immigrant communities impact the traditional Christian Right and its role in American politics? How do racial and religious identities cut across critical political issues such as abortion rights, same sex marriage, health care reform and immigration? This paper argues that evangelical Asian Americans and Latinos may not only reshape the Christian right, but also disrupt the relationship between Left and Right in American politics more generally.
