DESCRIPTION:Government agencies like the Army Corps of Engineers and the Fe
deral Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are required to make cost-benefit
calculations about how to spend their funds mitigating and responding to di
sasters. Many of those calculations are based on factors like home value an
d replacement costs\, which means that homeowners in working-class and mino
rity neighborhoods end up receiving less flood protection and recovery supp
ort than wealthier\, whiter neighborhoods.\n\nTodd Gerarden (Dyson School)
and Dave McLaughlin (EDF) will present on research supported by a 2021 Corn
