Inside Congress with Rep. Adam Schiff

AN ITHACA EVENT sponsored by the Institute of Politics and Global AffairsInside Congress: The Intelligence Committeewill feature a discussion with Rep. Adam Schiff, chairman of the U.S. House Intelligence Committee.

Joining Schiff in the conversation will be Steve Israel, former Congressman and director of Cornell's Institute of Politics and Global Affairs, and Douglas Kriner, Clinton Rossiter Professor in American Institutions (Arts and Sciences/Government), and faculty director of the Institute of Politics and Global Affairs.

Topics will include the role of the Intelligence Committee, explanation of the "Gang of Eight" and how it works, the basic process of oversight in this important part of the national security realm, as well as current news issues such as Congress's oversight role and recent criticism of it, and the separation of powers and inter-branch politics.

There will be a Q&A opportunity at the end of the discussion.
