Inhabiting Gardens: A Story Showcase

Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 7:00pm to 9:00pm

Brian C. Nevin Welcome Center
124 Comstock Knoll Road, Ithaca, NY 14850

Join us for a special program of creative works – presented over two evenings – by students in Cornell’s Freshman Writing Seminar, “Writing and Community Service: Inhabiting Gardens”.  Over the course of the fall semester, students explored the question, “what’s in a garden: art or nature, private property or public good, space of solace or site of labor?” Through extended learning beyond the classroom, at Cornell Botanic Gardens and in the community, students considered these complex man-made spaces that nevertheless teem with plant and animal life. The story showcase will feature students sharing works that represent garden inhabitants and/or interactions between humans and gardens. Refreshments will be provided.
