"Democracy in America: What Has Gone Wrong and What We Can Do About It." Benjamin Page (Political Science, Northwestern) will describe ways in which American democracy has gone wrong, highlighting the relationship between economic and political inequality, and propose reforms that are needed and how to achieve them, ascribing an important role to a social movement along the lines of the Populists and the Progressives. His influential publications include Class War? What Americans Really Think about Economic Inequality and What Government Can Do: Dealing with Poverty and Inequality.
