DESCRIPTION:In the last three decades\, the Brazilian constitutional experi
ence has moved towards the adoption of a model of judicial supremacy\, in w
hich the Supreme Court has the prerogative to give the last word on the att
ribution of meaning to constitutional norms. With the rise of a government
of judges\, the Supreme Court began to directly interfere in the political
decision-making of the Legislative and Executive Powers. This talk intends
to expose the process of development of the superpowers of the Brazilian Su
preme Court\, the rise and fall of its democratic legitimacy and the reacti
ons adopted by the Legislative Power in order to rebalance the relationship
between the branches.\n\nDaniel Hachem is Professor of Public Law at the P
