Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Event for Cayuga County

The annual fall Cayuga County Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) day event is a great opportunity for all Cayuga County residents to properly dispose of common (and sometimes not so common) household hazardous wastes FOR FREE! This proper disposal protects human health, our community and the environment.

If you do not have an email account, please call: Peggy Lillie at 315-255-1183 Ext 238 or stop in to the office to register. Registration is required as well as having an entrance ticket. If you do not have a printer, but do have an email please continue with registration and then call to obtain an entrance ticket. At the end of the registration process you will be presented (both in the thank you message as well as a confirmation email) with the link to print out the entrance ticket.

Acceptable Household Hazardous Wastes include:

Products containing chemicals
OIL BASED paints and stains
Turpentine, paint thinners, brush cleaners
Pesticides, herbicides, fungicides (insect, weed and fungus killers)
Mercury thermometers and barometers
Liquid mercury (quick silver)
Florescent tubes
Driveway sealer
Household cleaners
Gasoline
Gas/oil, oil/water, gas/water mixtures
Antifreeze
Mothballs
Smoke detectors
Pool Chemicals
Photograph developing chemicals
Propane tanks

Look for warnings like "danger" "toxic" or "reactive".

You MUST be a Cayuga County resident or dropping off waste for a Cayuga County resident to participate in this event.
