In this course we will have a workshop on how to brew beer. We will also be touring a hop yard, a malt house and a brewing operation. After joining this workshop series you should have a good understanding of how to homebrew and know more about local operations that help make some of our local beers.

Our first workshop will take place at the Cooperative Extension office, 480 North Main St Canandaigua NY. I will be walking you through the process of brewing beer, showing you the equipment needed and how to achieve different styles of beer.

The hop yard tour will take place at Schmidt farms, 415 Co Rd 8 Farmington NY. Steve Schmidt will take us through the process of growing hops, how to care for established hop bines, and the harvesting of hops.

The malt house tour will be at Murmurations Malt, 7480 St Rt 5 & 20 Bloomfield NY. They will be taking us through barleys transformation into malt, how they make different malts, and how they determine what types of malt to make.

Our brewery tour is to be determined. We will tour a local brewery and see how a commercial operation makes its beer.

Registration is $20 and can be a check made out to CCE Ontario and mail to 480 North Main St Canandaigua NY 14424, or cash paid in the office before or the day of the first program.
