 ension of Yates County as we welcome Charlotte Malmborg from the NYS Hemlo
 ck Initiative for a presentation about research updates and management of 
 hemlock wooly adelgid (HWA). She will also be leading our hike\, where you
 ’ll have the opportunity for hands-on identification and observation of 
 both hemlock trees and HWA.\n\n\n \n\n\nIn this workshop you'll learn abou
 t the importance of hemlocks on our landscape\, the threat of HWA\, the pr
 esent and future of HWA management in New York\, and how you can be involv
 ed in slowing the spread of HWA in your area. Hemlock trees are a foundati
 on species in our forests and are threatened by the invasive HWA. The NYS 
 Hemlock Initiative addresses this threat through research\, management pra
 ctices\, and outreach.\n\n\n \n\n\nPlease plan for a short drive from the 
 Yates County Building to the State Park. The walk is intended for all\, in
 cluding beginners just learning how to identify hemlock trees and HWA\, as
  well as those with intermediate knowledge and/or skill looking to stay up
 dated and engaged.\n\n\n \n\n\nAttendance is free\, but please let us know
  you are coming so we can plan accordingly. Attendees are asked to dress f
 or the weather and wear boots or shoes suitable for walking on woodland tr
 ails. Participants are encouraged to bring note taking supplies and a wate
 r bottle. Please note: The trailhead leading to the stand of hemlocks does
  have a moderate incline.\n\n\n \n\n\nSnacks will be provided prior to the
  hike – granola\, trail mix\, and apples!\n\n\n \n\n\nYates County Build
