Virtual EventThe CNY Humanities Corridor working group “Genealogy in the Humanities” is running two virtual seminars on genealogy this semester. The seminars are open to faculty and students interested in the history and future of genealogy as a method of inquiry, a philosophical tradition, and a tactic of critique.
Our inaugural meeting on November 20th will meet to discuss foundational texts on genealogy as method. Readings will include writing by Charles Darwin, Michel Foucault, Ian Hacking, and Quentin Skinner.
Our second meeting on December 4th will turn to contemporary uses of genealogy across the humanities and the humanistic social sciences. Readings will include writing by Saidiya Hartman, Andrew Dilts, Ladelle McWhorter, and Kevin Olson.
