Willard Straight Theatre
Central Campus

Ithaca Premiere w/ filmmaker Sasha Waters Freyer in person! 2018 > USA > Directed by Sasha Waters Freyer
With Matthew Weiner, Laurie Simmons, Geoff Dyer.
Post-screening discussion will be facilitated by professor of photography & American Studies, Bill Gaskins
The first documentary film on the life and work of acclaimed photographer Garry Winogrand. Decades before digital technology transformed how we make and see pictures, Garry Winogrand made hundreds of thousands of them. These images capture a bygone era: the New York of Mad Men and the early years of the Women's Movement, the birth of American suburbs, and the glamour and alienation of Hollywood. Forged by his own words and images, the film is a stunningly intimate portrait of a man who both personified his era and transformed it. Cosponsored with the Dept of Art. More at
