Across nearly 70 countries, landmines and unexploded ordnances sow fear and uncertainty, and many remain long after conflicts end. In 1997, guided by her deep Catholic faith and belief in the sanctity of life, Heidi Kuhn founded Roots of Peace. She hoped to transform “mines to vines” – replacing remnants of war with regenerative agriculture. Her organization has since removed over 100,000 landmines, restoring livelihoods and communities in 8 countries, from Vietnam to Afghanistan, Israel/Palestine, and Guatemala.

Amid today’s complex geopolitical landscape, see how Ms. Kuhn and other Cornell faculty in agriculture connect Catholic social justice principles with global peacebuilding and human upliftment. Whatever your faith or spiritual belief system, join a conversation on how building bridges on spiritual identity, belonging, and purpose might lead us one step closer to solving key global challenges.

Lecture by Ms. Heidi Kuhn, Founder & CEO of Roots of Peace, World Food Prize Laureate, and Nobel Peace Prize Nominee
