Tuesday, September 26, 2023 5:30pm to 7pm
About this Event
Cornell Law School
Presented by the Howard and Abby Milstein Foundation
In this inaugural Milstein Symposium, the first in a series throughout the university-wide freedom of expression theme year, Professor Jameel Jaffer, Columbia University, and Professor Eugene Volokh, University of California at Los Angeles, will engage in a conversation moderated by Cornell Dean of Faculty Eve De Rosa to explore the scope and boundaries of freedom of expression through a First Amendment lens.
Professor Jaffer has a depth and breadth of experience as a leading thinker and litigator on issues of speech, particularly as it intersects with technology and the broader public interest. Professor Volokh’s scholarship, his leadership of the First Amendment amicus clinic at UCLA Law, and his work as an editor of the Journal of Free Speech Law distinguish him as one of the nation’s leading First Amendment theorists.
Cornell recognizes the support of the Milstein Foundation in presenting this event. The foundation has provided generous support for a series of events to explore the essential principles of free and open inquiry and expression throughout the university’s freedom of expression theme year.
This event will be recorded.
