Aguakinesis is a project about Latinx and indigenous ties to water. The project is a transnational collaborative story-based interdisciplinary arts project that involves individuals from the Seneca Nation, Colombia, Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela as well as Cornell and Ithaca. For the past six months, the group worked together sharing stories of water and indigenous knowledges, and then created artistic interpretations of these stories, which will be featured in the show. Also featured are independent works by other indigenous and Latinx artists throughout the Americas. The multimedia installation includes interactive exhibits, music, video, photos, a looped live performance piece, and a revisiting of Balcón Criollo, a collection of artifacts from community members' homes.
Sponsored by: Latino/a Studies Program, Latin American Studies Program, American Indian and Indigenous Studies Program, Cultura Ithaca, Latino Civic Association of Tompkins County, Ganondagan, Tompkins County Tourism Program, Teatrotaller, Community Arts Partnership of CSMA.
