Opportunities

CCE Nassau Farmers Market Volunteer:

Market volunteers play an important role in helping us to achieve the CCE Nassau Farmers Market mission: to bring awareness to the benefits eating farm-fresh produce and supporting local businesses can have on one’s health and well-being, as well as the community. 

The Farmers Market takes place on Saturday mornings from 9am - 12pm, from July 6th through October 26th. It is located at Eisenhower Park, parking field 8, near the Cornell Cooperative Extension Administration Building and the intersection of Merrick and Stewart Avenues. 

Volunteers working at the market help to fulfill our mission and, as members of the community we serve, help make the market better equipped to serve its customers and residents of Nassau County. As volunteers, individuals will assist the Market Manager and the market team by assisting with the set-up and takedown of the market, engaging with customers, tending to the Market Manager’s table, assisting with the evaluation of the market, helping with programs and activities, and other tasks. Based on individual skills, interests, and availability, volunteers can choose which tasks they would like to assist with.

Volunteers have the opportunity to take part in the following shifts:

• 8-10:30am: Assist in the set up the market and necessary tasks in the first half of the market


• 9am-12pm: Assist with activities and engage with customers during the market


• 10:30am-12:30pm: Assist in necessary tasks in the second half of the market and the take down of the market

For volunteering at the market, individuals will receive credit for school and/or honor societies as well as discounts towards CCE Nassau products and merchandise.

Dates:  7/6, 7/13, 7/20, 7/27, 8/3, 8/10, 8/17, 8/24, 8/31, 9/7, 9/14, 9/21, 9/28, 10/5, 10/12, 10/19, 10/26

Maximum of 3 volunteers per market shift
