Scholarships are available for veterans that reside in the states of New York or New Jersey. This scholarship supports a veteran’s attendance to one of the nine field days being offered in the months of July and August 2022. Veterans may request reimbursement for mileage and registration fees in addition to a $100 participation stipend to offset other related costs. More info.

2022 LERGP Summer Demonstration Conference at CLEREL

Note: This vineyard field day is part of the LERGP Summer Demonstration Conference.

The New York Soil Health Working Group and the New York Soil Health Initiative announce the 2022 Soil Health and Climate Resiliency Field Day Series. Running from May-August, the statewide series can be found from Long Island to Western NY, Northern NY, and Central and Eastern NY.

“In collaboration with local farmers and partners, we are delivering region-specific information on current challenges and advancements in soil health practices,” said Deborah Aller, extension associate with the Cornell Soil Health Program.

  • Terry Bates: Director of the Cornell Lake Erie Research and Extension Laboratory, will give the Welcome Opening, history of CLEREL, and Research Overview.
  • Lynn Sosnoskie: Assistant Professor, School of Integrative Plant Science Horticulture Section Cornell AgriTech, will discuss her work with the weed precision spot sprayer.
  • Rob Chancia: Post Doctoral Researcher, Rochester Institute of Technology, Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science, to discuss work on sensor imaging for nutrient deficiency detection.
  • Abhisesh Silwal: Carnegie Mellon University, Robotics Institute Project Scientist, will introduce his work with the robotic pruner (TBD).
  • Nick Gunner: CEO, Chief Platform Engineer & Lead Designer for Orbitist, to discuss the Efficient Vineyard Projectand the MyEV tool.
  • Debbie Aller: New York Soil Health Alliance Extension Associate, will discuss sustainable soil management practices.
  • Nicole Kubiczki: Resource Soil Scientist for the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), will discuss what to expect at our soil pits.
