In the Carl A. Kroch Library hallway, outside of the Severinghaus Asia reading room, is an exhibit that highlights some of the ghosts and supernatural beings from Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, India, Bangladesh, Japan and China.

Ghosts, vampires, spirits, demons and other strange apparitions abound in stories from Asian cultures. Traditional tales such as Nang Nak of Thailand, Oiwa of Japan, and the kuyang of Malaysia are represented here as well as present-day ghost stories like Ju-on.  The exhibit does not attempt to study the psychology or history behind the belief in ghosts, but rather showcases a variety of old and new tales.  A pillow that unrolls into dozens of staring eyes?  A ghostly girl who crawls out of a well and right through your TV?

The exhibit is on view through December -- visit, if you dare.
