Jon Entine and Robin Bisson, science communicators dedicated to increasing the accuracy of media coverage and public debates about genetics and biotechnology, will talk about their work and how researchers can get involved and have real impact.

Jon Entine is executive director of the Genetic Literacy Project, a news and analysis site that looks at current issues in genetics and biotechnology through a scientific lens, and helps shine a light on those responsible for the spread of misinformation. Jon was an Emmy-award winning producer and executive for 20 years at NBC News and ABC News, has been a contributing columnist at Forbes, Huffington and the UK-based Ethical Corporation magazine. Jon is a senior fellow at the World Food Center at UC Davis.

Robin Bisson is launching the Genetic Expert News Service (GENeS), a new project that will make the expertise and opinions of researchers from across North America available on the latest genetics and biotechnology news. GENeS is primarily designed to feed into news coverage, working with journalists to get them robust, evidence-based information while they are on a story. Robin is a visiting scholar at the Institute for Food and Agricultural Literacy at UC Davis, to which GENeS is affiliated.
