About this Event
View mapDaniel A. Scherson, the Frank Hovorka Professor of Chemistry and Director of the Ernest B. Yeager Center for Electrochemical Sciences at Case Western Reserve University, will be presenting a talk entitled "Surface Dynamics at Single Crystal Metal/Liquid-Electrolyte Interfaces".
His Interests are in Analytical Chemistry, Materials, Physical Chemistry, Electrochemistry and Photochemistry.
His current research is Physical Electrochemistry and In situ Spectroscopy. The physicochemical properties of electrode materials and particularly their reactivity toward specific electron-transfer processes, can be markedly modified by the presence of adsorbed species such as ions, molecules, or metals, even at sub- monolayer coverage. A basic understanding of the way in which these factors alter the electrochemical behavior is of both scientific and technological importance. Research interests include electrocatalysis and energy storage, with emphasis on in situ and ex situ spectroscopic techniques including UV-visible and Raman spectroscopies, electroreflectance, LEED-Auger-XPS and UHV FTIR, x-ray absorption fine structure, scanning probe microscopies and second harmonic generation.
Feel free to gather from 12(noon) onward. Presentation will begin at 12:30pm.
