http://cals.cornell.edu/distillingmay19CARL Distilleries and B&D Technologies, in cooperation with the Cornell University’s Department of Food Science will once again hold the Distilling Workshop — Spring Session 2019, at the Cornell Agritech Food Science Laboratory in Geneva, NY from Thursday, May 16, starting at 9:30 am through Friday, May 17, closing at approx. 4:30 pm.
CARL’s Distilling Workshop Program in the USA is the original distilling workshop, now in its 22nd year. The Distilling Workshop is a comprehensive primer with distillation techniques demonstrated on commercial-scale copper pot distilleries — presented jointly by Chris Gerling, Enology Extension Associate of Cornell University’s Brewing & Vinification Laboratory; Alexander Plank of CARL Distilleries and Nicolas Haase of B&D Technologies - CARL Distilleries’ Americas office, along with other speakers from Cornell’s Food Science and Agritech facilities faculty as detailed in the course agenda.
The course agenda of the Distilling Workshop will alternate between theoretical presentations and discussions, and practical demonstrations on Cornell University’s distilling system: a state-of-the-art 140 liter capacity copper pot still with a finishing plate column.
Workshop Schedule & Agenda Overview:
A field trip to one of the oldest regional craft distillers, Hidden Marsh Distillery at Montezuma Winery in Seneca Falls, NY, is included on Friday afternoon, combined with a dinner in the evening. Bus transportation to and from the distillery will be provided.
The Cornell Distilling Workshop is a comprehensive introductory course and our practical and theoretical course work will cover all aspects and techniques of fine spirits distillation.
