Title: Governing an Unruly World.

Abstract:  Philosophers often distinguish between governing and non-governing theories of laws of nature. Governing laws are thought to constrain, guide, or direct ​ specific events. While there are many theories of deterministic governance, less attention has been paid to how indeterministic laws govern events (if they do). I have three objectives in this paper: 1. To examine the motivations for an account of indeterministic governance, 2. To outline desiderata for an account of indeterministic governance, and 3. To sketch a novel framework for understanding indeterministic governance.
