You are invited to participate in the Encontro Bilíngue – Bilingual Meeting. These meetings are part of a collaborative project between the Portuguese program (Romance Studies) and the Instituto Federal de São Paulo (Brazil), in which students from both institutions meet online for bilingual discussions (Zoom meetings). The starting point for the discussions is books written by Black writers who consider ethnic and race-related themes. 

This Fall, we will discuss Dear Martin (Cartas para Martin) by Nic Stone. Participants may read the book in English or Portuguese. 

Oct 14, 2021 at 4:00PM (F): Leitura colaborativa. Students meet to read the book collaboratively (in Portuguese). 

Nov 5, 2021 at 4:00PM (F): Projeto Música, Literatura e Sociedade. Students discuss about the background contexts (historical, social, cultural, etc.) related to the story (in Portuguese). 

Nov 12, 2021 at 4:00PM (F): Encontro Bilíngue-Bilingual Meeting. Students meet to discuss the book and related topics. (in English and Portuguese / with translations in both languages).
