About this Event
Olive Tjaden Gallery, Tjaden Hall
Bleached Out Reef explores coral bleaching both as an ecological phenomenon caused by climate change and as a metaphor for what happens to us as individuals and as communities when placed in conditions adverse to our thriving. When corals bleach in response to conditions such as rising temperatures, they expel the symbiotic algae that both give them their vibrant color and their ability to thrive. Bleached corals are still living, but are a ghostly taupe color. Eventually, they wither and die.
Bleached Out Reef is the thesis exhibition of David Nasca (M.F.A. '22).
