https://www.eventbrite.com/e/cultures-cuisines-tastes-of-the-african-diaspora-tickets-991253304317Celebrate the rich culinary heritage of the African Diaspora and explore the plants of the exhibit, “Seeds of Survival and Celebration: Plants and the Black Experience.” Join us for a conversational dinner to enjoy a traditional West African meal, prepared by Chef Kuukua of Asempe Kitchen, while learning more about the plants used in dishes across the United States, Caribbean, and West Africa that are intertwined with Black resilience and culture. Chef Kuukua will be accompanied by other local chefs to share their knowledge of these regional cuisines and discuss the influence of West African approaches to food preparation. There will be two seatings for this event; please select either the 1:00 to 3:00 pm or the 4:00 to 6:00 pm seating when registering.
This event will also feature performances in the Nearing Summerhouse by CCSADE, Cornell Caribbean Students' Association Dance Ensemble and ADR, the African Dance Repertoire from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., between the seatings. Registrants to both seatings are invited to attend the performances at no additional cost.
Flexible Fee Structure: Purchase a ticket from one of three price options -- $50, $35, or $20. Each ticket includes five dishes.
