Under the direction of James Spinazzola, chamber ensembles featuring Cornell faculty and students alongside local professional musicians present a program spanning more than a century of Cuban chamber music. The program ranges from traditional danzónes by Miguel Faílde Pérez and José Urfé González to early 20th-century works by Alejandro García Caturla and Amadeo Roldán, as well as contemporary music by Tania León and Paquito D’Rivera. Dancers Adolfo Castillo and Lisbet Lopez will join the musicians to demonstrate the Cuban danzón.
