Virtual EventJoin the CU Wind Symphony for a video lecture series focused on Haitian music, Vodou, and the racialization of Haiti and Haitian religion in the U.S.
Participants can read this document and watch this video to start with background knowledge of Haitian music.
Due to technical difficulties, James Spinazzola's interview with Michael Gay will not be posted. Instead, viewers are invited to join us for RAM's four-part live performance, including the popular Ibo Lele (Dreams Come True), which was included on the soundtrack of the film Philadelphia (1993), directed by Jonathan Demme and starring Tom Hanks.

This lecture series is supported in part by Cornell SAFC, Engaged Cornell, and the Yale Concert and Jazz Bands, and has been programmed in lieu of the Wind Symphony's planned January 2021 tour of Haiti.
