Making Plants Work for You: Cover Crops and Improving Your Soil

Tuesday September 10, 6 to 8pm

Teaching Garden with Ag Center as Rain Backup

September seems like the end of the garden season, but it’s actually the BEST time to start the 2025 growing season off right by testing your soil to understand what your garden needs for the season ahead.

Topics covered will include:

  • How to take a soil test and better understand those sometimes confusing results (what is N-P-K anyway?).

  • How to explore the properties of your garden soil that go beyond just the chemical tests (yes, we’ll get our hands dirty!).

  • What cover crops are, how these plants can improve your garden and grounds, and how to decide what are some of the easier options to use on your beds.

  • Feel free to bring in past soil tests and we can talk about the results—bonus points if you have tests from more than one year so we can compare!
