Cornell University's renowned jazz program invites musicians of all levels to audition for its diverse ensembles and individual instruction opportunities. This is your chance to join largest, DownBeat Award-winning, Ivy League jazz program known for its excellence in jazz studies and performance.

🕒 Audition Schedule

• 2:30 PM: Trumpets and trombones

• 4:00 PM: Saxophones

• 5:30 PM: Piano, guitar, drums, and percussion

• Additional times: Vocalists, other instrumentalist, and those with conflicts (please contact pm75@cornell.edu)

🎼 Ensembles Available

• Jazz Ensemble (MUSIC 4615): The flagship group of the CU Jazz program, performing classic, modern, and contemporary repertoire in a large ensemble format. Past guest artists include Wynton Marsalis, Maria Schneider, and Joshua Redman.

• Jazz Combos (MUSIC 4616): Small group settings focusing on classic and contemporary small-group jazz. Combos perform at events across campus and New York State, including New York City. 

• Individual Instruction: Opportunities for one-on-one lessons with expert jazz faculty 

🎯 What to Expect

Auditions are designed to assess musicianship, improvisation skills, rhythmic accuracy, and style. Prospective members will perform alongside peers from various sections to simulate an ensemble rehearsal.
