A Cornelian named John H. Reisner (B.A., 1911, Yale College & M.S.A. 1915, Cornell University)  went to the Republic of China at a very early time in 1914, with a high-level degree in the field of agriculture, and helped establish the College of Agriculture at the University of Nanking.  Applying his personal knowledge and ability, Reisner made positive contributions to the preliminary formation and development of China’s modern higher education in agriculture, and also promoted the distribution and extension of advanced western agricultural science and technology in Republican China, including the plant breeding technology.
