Cornell University

Please join the Cornell Climate Change Program Work Team (PWT) for a team presentation on the new Cornell Climate Stewards Program, which has just launched its first training with 60 volunteers around New York State. The goal of the Climate Stewards Program is to train volunteers through the Cornell Cooperative Extension system to support their local communities with climate change mitigation and adaptation - it was modeled after successful Extension master volunteer programs including Master Gardener Volunteers, Master Naturalists or Master Forest Owners.

The twelve-week online curriculum includes live interactive lectures, discussion, resources and readings, case studies, and group activities to help trainees learn important concepts related to climate change science and solutions. After completing the training, volunteers need to fulfill 40+ hours of work working on a local climate change community project in their community in order to become a certified Cornell Climate Steward. Please join the PWT to hear about how the curriculum was developed and reviewed, and to hear from six county Cooperative Extension associations about their county’s work on the program and their volunteers.
