Cornell Center for Historical Keyboards Salon: CU Music

Friday, January 27, 2023 at 5:00pm

A.D. White House

Cornell Center for Historical Keyboards Salon: Sezi Seskir, fortepiano, and Keiran Campbell, cello, perform Beethoven’s Berlin cello sonatas. Beethoven wrote his two cello sonatas, Op. 5 during his stay in Berlin in 1796 and premiered them with the cellist Jean-Louis Duport. Both sonatas are similarly structured, starting with a slow introduction followed by two movements. This was not only Beethoven’s first attempt toward making the roles of the two instruments more equal but also a celebration of the capabilities of the five-octave piano for which he composed these works.

Seating is limited and is first-come, first-served.
