Title: "Poetry in the Universe: From the Epoch of Reionization to Planet Formation"

Abstract:

"In my presentation I will address two very different science topics: (1) The Epoch of Reionization (EoR) of the universe and (2) planet formation. The link between these two topics is the far-IR/submm instrumentation group in the Cornell Astronomy Department, led by Prof. Stacey. In our group we are currently building instruments to study each of these science topics. I will present the scientific context and astrophysical questions addressed by these two projects and give an overview of the instruments we are building to investigate these topics: (1) EoR-Spec for Line-Intensity Mapping of the EoR and (2) POEMM for high-spectral resolution far-IR observations of planet formation."
