DESCRIPTION:Title: Development of Improved Spin-Polarized Electron Photoemi
ssion Sources\n\n\nAbstract: Spin-polarized electron beams are utilized in
high energy and nuclear physics experiments\, as well as in electron micr
oscopy. GaAs-based photocathodes are the only viable sources of such beams
in a photoinjector\, although they are limited by extreme sensitivity to
residual gasses and characterized by poor operational lifetimes. In my tal
k\, I will introduce the mechanisms behind spin-polarized photoemission an
d associated measurement techniques. I will then discuss methods to improv
e the longevity of GaAs photocathodes\, as well as investigations into GaN
  as a more-robust spin-polarized electron source.
