Concepts of Ornamental Tree and Shrub Pruning

Pruning woody plants can seem daunting, but with a little background in tree biology and best pruning practices, you’ll be able to prune with ease. This introductory session will focus on pruning small trees and shrubs in the home landscape using hand tools. We’ll cover different pruning cuts, seasonality, tree growth, wound response, and pruning objectives for a variety of woody ornamental plants.
Led by Rebecca Hargrave, associate professor of forestry and arboriculture at SUNY Morrisville, ISA Certified Arborist, and Tree Risk Assessment Qualified.
