Alan Courtis (also known as Anla Courtis) is an Argentine musician, sound artist, composer, and music professor for the disabled. He is perhaps best known as co-founder and guitarist of legendary experimental music group Reynols, which integrated a former student of his with Down’s Syndrome as drummer and vocalist. As an educator and as an artist, Alan is interested in breaking down the aesthetic and social boundaries that undergird and restrain even otherwise adventurous music.

Over his decades spanning career, Alan has released over 300 recordings in varying formats and performed globally in styles ranging from noisy psychedelic rock, droning free improvisation, and lowercase. He is extremely skilled at working with musicians on their own terms, which he uses to give classes and workshops that help disabled people get involved in music making. This skill has also led to him working with forward-thinking artists as diverse as Pauline Oliveros, Günter Müller, Merzbow, Birchville Cat Motel.
