Cornell University

Our campus community is navigating a time of deep polarization, stress, and collective trauma. These challenges often seep into every facet of our lives—classrooms, workplaces, relationships with colleagues, and even within our own families. As we enter the holiday season, a time traditionally meant for connection and togetherness, many of us are left wondering: How do we come together while carrying so much hurt?

To help us explore this question and offer tools for healing, we are hosting a special community space featuring Dr. Dana E. Crawford. In this Zoom session, Dr. Crawford will address key concepts such as:

  • Moral injury: How conflicts in values can lead to inner turmoil.
  • Moral apathy: Recognizing and addressing emotional numbness caused by prolonged stress and polarization.
  • Techniques for navigating polarization: Practical tools to foster connection and understanding in the face of division.
  • Self-soothing and self-healing principles: Strategies to care for ourselves while engaging with challenging situations and emotions.

This will be more than just a discussion—it is a dedicated space for compassion, healing, and connection. Whether you are seeking tools to navigate difficult conversations, ways to process personal or collective hurt, or simply a moment to breathe and reflect, this space is for you.

We hope to see you there.
