DESCRIPTION:D.W. Griffith described screenwriting as "writing history with 
 lightening." Filmmaker and writer Austin Bunn will explore the craft (and c
 hallenges) of screenwriting – how he teaches it to Cornell undergraduates. 
 He will also screen his newest short film\, "In The Hollow\," a "hybrid doc
 umentary" that mixes narrative and nonfiction modes.\n\nAustin Bunn is a sc
 reenwriter\, fiction writer\, teacher and performer. He wrote the script fo
 r "Kill Your Darlings" (Sony Pictures Classics) with the director John Krok
 idas\, and the film premiered in the dramatic competition at Sundance Film 
 Festival\, won the International Days Prize at the Venice Film Festival\, a
 nd was released in 2013. He is the author of the short story collection "Th
 e Brink" (HarperPerennial\, 2015)\, and his work has appeared in The New Yo
 rk Times Magazine\, The Atlantic\, Best American Science and Nature Writing
 \, WBEZ\, Michigan Public Radio\, and elsewhere. He is an Assistant Profess
 or in the Performing and Media Arts Department at Cornell.
