Groups are powerful forces for social change. Dr. McLeod will discuss theoretical processes of social influence within and between groups, and will describe several of her current research projects on effects of intergroup dynamics, and interpersonal and group conversation on attitudes and behaviors related to sustainability and climate change.
Poppy L. McLeod is a Professor in the Department of Communication where she teaches courses in social influence, communication and decision-making in groups, and communication theory. She is the director of the Group and Interpersonal Communication research lab whose research focuses on interpersonal communication effects related to climate change; the processes of developing teamwork skills among students; effects of emotions on communication and decision-making in groups, and communication and decision-making in virtual teams.
