Communication Sciences for a Healthier Society: Investigating the Influences of the Public Communication in Health Contexts
Kwanho Kim, Postdoctoral Associate, Cornell University
2pm in 102 Mann
Reception to follow in the Hub
Communication scientists can contribute to creating healthier societies in many ways, at multiple levels. Investigating the dynamics of the public communication about public health topics and examining its influences on health-related outcomes are our scientific efforts to address this agenda. In this talk, Dr. Kim presents three different lines of his works, which aim to yield scientific evidence regarding communication strategies for a healthier society: computational analyses of the public communication about health topics, examinations of theoretical models addressing the effects of exposure to the public communication about health topics, and investigations of factors moderating the behavioral and policy influences of the public communication in health contexts.
Kwanho Kim is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Communication at Cornell University. His research analyzes the public communication about science, health, environment, and risk (SHER) topics, and examines its behavioral and policy impacts among people with diverse demographic, socioeconomic, and behavioral backgrounds. Dr. Kim received his BAs in Communication, Psychology, and Anthropology and MA in Communication from Seoul National University, and PhD in Communication from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania
