DESCRIPTION:Bio: April Salas MBA '16 brings over 20 years of management and
  board experience in global and domestic capital markets\, with expertise 
 in energy\, sustainability\, and climate. Before joining EFIF\, Salas serv
 ed as the global director of public policy at Microsoft’s Environmental 
 Sustainability team\, where she developed and advanced key global policy a
 nd legislative initiatives across the company’s global sustainability co
 mmitments of responsible sourcing\, zero waste\, and becoming water positi
 ve and carbon negative by 2030. At Microsoft\, she led public policy strat
 egy on AI’s role in advancing a low-carbon energy transition\; carbon re
 duction across the supply chain\, including semiconductors\, steel\, and c
 ement\; and advancing access to zero-carbon power\, including advanced nuc
 lear. Salas has coauthored Microsoft’s Accelerating Sustainability with 
 AI: A Playbook\, engaged policymakers globally\, and was a technical revie
 wer for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the 
 International Energy Agency.\n\n \n\nThis event is presented as part of th
 e 2026 Perspectives on the Climate Change Challenge Seminar Series:\n\nMos
 t Mondays\, Spring Semester 2026\, 2:55-4:10 p.m.155 Olin Hall & Zoom \n\n
 This university-wide seminar series is open to the public (via Zoom)\, and
  provides important views on the critical issue of climate change\, drawin
 g from many perspectives and disciplines. Experts from Cornell University 
 and beyond present an overview of the science of climate change and climat
 e change models\, the implications for agriculture\, ecosystems\, and food
  systems\, and provide important economic\, ethical\, and policy insights 
 on the issue. The seminar is being organized and sponsored by the Departme
 nt of Biological and Environmental Engineering and Cornell Atkinson Center
  for Sustainability.
