Cine con Cultura: filmmaker Carlos Rossini in conversation/tertulia

Cecelia Lawless (Romance Studies) will facilitate a conversation/tertulia with the distinguished Argentine/Mexican documentary filmmaker, Carlos Rossini as special event in the context of the annual Cine con Cultura film festival. A segment from Pau Ortiz’ feature film Al Otro Lado del Muro (2017), for which Rossini served as producer, will screen, serving as a taste of his work and a spur to dialogue. Topics will range from talking about producing political and social documentaries in the Latin American context, cinematography in the documentary film, gaining freedom to do the projects you want and about defining visual or narrative style for a project.
Carlos Rossini is an award-winning Argentinian director and producer who has been working in documentary film for over 10 years. He has directed documentaries such as Palabras Magicas (2012), winner of Best Cinematography at Festival Internacional de Cine Documental de la Ciudad de Mexico, and El Alcalde (2012), winner of Best Documentary at the Baja International Film Festival. In 2004, Rossini and producer Emiliano Altuna created bambú|audiovisual, a Mexico City-based production company. Specializing in the development and production of documentary and fiction films, they have produced award-winning films including El Alcalde (2012), Un Mundo Secreto (2012), and El Ciruelo (2009).
