CIAMS Workshop- Troubled waters: Jewish heritage flows and the spectral mikveh

Friday, February 2, 2024 12:15pm to 1:15pm

141 Central Ave, Ithaca, NY 14850

#ciamscal

The workshop will be an informal discussion session on Jaimie's dissertation research (specifically chapter 3, titled "Mikveh as a tool of the State"), in which issues of heritage production, identity politics, and memory work are examined through the lens of my archaeo-ethnographic fieldwork on Jewish immersion pools in Spain and Israel/Palestine. Jaimie will present photographs and video footage from her fieldwork to provide further context for the project and invite questions and feedback regarding the organization and content of the chapter and the project more generally.

A draft of her chapter can be accessed on the CIAMS Community Resources page on Canvas (Please note that this draft is not for citation or further circulation). Prospective attendees should read and review the document before the workshop.
