Challenges and Opportunities in Industrial Filtration

Filtration is essential to modern industrial processes.  For example, the pharmaceutical and electronics industries depend on ever improving filtration performance and cost to meet demanding product requirements. Perhaps more importantly, the environmental and human need to remediate enormous volumes of waste water is pushing current technology to its limits. 

In this talk I will present my perspective of the filtration industry, gained from 35 years immersed in it, and outline some of the important technical challenges.  I will also present current work on particle motion in porous structures.
